The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
This year we are fundraising to rent a van to provide transportation to our competitive events.
We have approximately 20 athletes with intellectual disabilities that train throughout the year to compete in various events in the area and at state competitions. Unfortunately, our transportation has fallen through the last three competitions and the athletes have not been able to compete. This is very disappointing for everyone. Raising money to rent a handicapped van will ensure that we are able to travel to area and state competitions.
Last year we used our funds to buy team jackets for our athletes and basketball uniforms for our new players.
Fundraising Goal: $1,200
