Experience reading in a whole new way!
Introducing a fun way to get into reading! The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation is proud to partner with the Red Lodge Carnegie Library to provide the Reading Adventure Backpack Program. Reading Adventure Backpacks are geared towards ages 0-5, with a focus on bringing families together through reading. Each backpack contains several books centered around a specific theme and a craft, a game, puzzle, or similar activity along the same theme. These backpacks provide opportunities for parents to engage their children and have fun learning together. The backpacks will be available for checkout for a two-week period. Five backpacks will be launched the week of March 20th, with new backpacks and themes rotated in on a seasonal basis. Opportunities for additional learning are contained within each backpack, with bookmarks listing other resources along the same theme.
The partnership of Carbon County libraries and the Foundation has been seeing the success of the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library over the past year. The Imagination Library promotes early literacy by mailing children ages 0-5 a free book every month. Children are exposed to new ideas and their world is expanded through receiving the special gift of a new book monthly. Currently, 80 children are enrolled in the program including 64 families, with 3 families in Bridger, 1 in Boyd, 8 in Bridger, 3 in Fromberg, 10 in Joliet, 3 in Roberts, 1 in Silesia, and 35 in Red Lodge. Any child age 0-5 in Carbon County is welcome to participate, and sign-ups for the program are available at libraries in Bridger, Joliet, and Red Lodge.
