The Carbon County Historical Society & Museum has been closed for the last few months, gearing up for the summer swarm of visitors. The storybook of a building, detailing some of Carbon County’s prized moments, groups and events, is set to open June 1.

With an increase in foot traffic from summer visitors comes an abundance of volunteer opportunities for those looking to help out. The following opportunities are available:

  • Mercantile shop clerk
  • Welcoming visitors/ taking admissions
  • Organizing donated items
  • Working in the archives (setting up files, filing)
  • Cleaning
  • Museum & Mine Guides
  • Scanning & Archiving Photographs

New exhibits will be able to be viewed as those who visit the museum walk through the building. A brand-new exhibit detailing the history and construction of the Beartooth Highway, along with a nod to the original Festival of Nations celebration will be on display this summer.

Summer hours will include Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
