Surrounded by natural beauty, it’s no wonder Red Lodge area residents have a love for the outdoors, and the Red Lodge Community Foundation Fun Run for Charities, set for Saturday, Sept. 3, is a great opportunity to support those organizations that foster a love for the outdoors, support conservation, and serve animals, both wildlife and our pets.

The Beartooth Recreational Trails Association builds and maintains the trails we use throughout the community and beyond. The Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Foundation is focused on educating hikers and other recreationalists about wilderness preservation, access and other concerns. If you’re a trail user or you appreciate the wilderness, these would be worthy recipients for your donation.

New this year, the Green Fund is a student-led program to support environmentally conscious causes in our community. If you’re interested in historical preservation and experiencing a unique connection to the area, consider a donation to the Buses of Yellowstone.

The Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary provides a home for animals that can no longer live in the wild. It’s a great opportunity for visitors to learn more about the wild animals in our area. The Beartooth Humane Alliance supports animal welfare in Carbon County by helping homeless pets find forever homes, offering free and low-cost spay and neuter services, and delivering humane education. If you have a heart for animals, consider donating to these organizations.

Community wide, the Carbon County Resource Council is making a difference by raising awareness about the issues facing area residents and helping to foster solutions. This 60-member coalition is aimed at education, and civic involvement on a variety of issues including clean energy, sustainability, and responsible development. If these issues are important to you, please consider them for your donation.

Not sure which organization to support? Why not support them all with a donation to the Sally Martin Match Fund, which benefits all of the participating organizations. It’s a great way to make sure your contributions benefit the entire community.
