This is the second of five articles about organizations asking for your support through the 2014 Fun Run for Charities.  The organizations that benefit our youth support, educate, encourage and coach our children from preschool through high school.  They need your support so they can continue the programs that help our youth learn social and recreational skills, health and fitness skills, how to enjoy and contribute to the world around them and how to improve their brainpower.

Beartooth Children’s Center provides licensed childcare services and early learning programs that are developmentally appropriate and in the best interest of the child, family and community.  Kids Corner is a shop that sells affordable children’s items with proceeds directed to the Beartooth Children’s Center.  Head Start promotes school readiness by enhancing social and cognitive development of low income children.

Anywhere in Carbon County is just minutes away from outdoor learning and adventure.  The Jane Ferguson Nature Camp provides opportunities in the wilderness that instill the sense of joy and wonder that Jane sought in the outdoors.  Hope Ranch serves youth by providing outdoor activities such as horseback riding, fishing, backpacking and spelunking.  Eagle Mount provides year-round recreational opportunities to enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities.

Two organizations supplement public schools in the County.  Luther PTA organizes and sponsors programs that build community among students, staff and parents.  Red Lodge Public School Foundation supports and enhances education in the Red Lodge Public Schools through program development, special activities and building construction.  Red Lodge High School Interact Club is comprised of students who serve our local community and beyond through volunteering, activities and work.  The Red Lodge Music Festival inspires our students’ love of classical and jazz music, enhances their performance skills and enriches Montana with professional ensemble concerts.

Youth sports teach our young people about setting and reaching goals and about teamwork.  Red Lodge Youth Soccer provides safe and fun recreational and competitive programs for all area youth.  Beartooth Little League helps youth develop citizenship, sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork.  Red Lodge Cross Country Ski Foundation offers entry level skiing and promotes participation of our youth in competitive cross country skiing.  Silver Run Ski Education Foundation focuses on alpine skiing as a way of helping our youth learn the value of team work, sportsmanship and hard work as a gift to our community and its future.

The Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County inspires young people, especially those in need, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.  Some of our youth need scholarships to participate in summer camps, swim at the local swimming pool and seek academic opportunities.  The Youth Enrichment Fund offers funding to those youth who could not otherwise afford to participate.

If you have a soft spot in your heart for our youth who will someday be our community leaders and citizens who work together for the good of all, please donate to one or more of the youth focused organizations described above.  Find more information at www.rlacf.org/fun-run/
