Red Lodge is extremely fortunate to have a number of nonprofit, volunteer organizations that make a significant and positive impact in our community. These 56 worthy organizations depend in large part upon donations made through the Annual Fun Run for Charities. This article describes those nonprofits that focus on encouraging us to appreciate the beauty of this earth and providing us with the opportunity to celebrate each moment we are out in nature.

Nature Nuts. Opening ourselves up to the beauty around us is a positive way to bring more happiness and peace in our lives. Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness Association supports stewardship of the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness and fosters appreciation of wild lands. Beartooth Recreational Trails Association maintains winter operations of the Nordic Center and promotes year-round non-motorized trail systems in and around the Red Lodge area. Donations will provide trail building on the Nichols Creek Trail, and maintenance on the Airport Trail and Nordic Center Area. Greenspace Fund grows and supports green spaces and projects in our community by engaging local youth as grantmakers. Jane Ferguson Wilderness Adventures provides backcountry journeys dedicated to providing area youth with the chance to build lifelong relationships with nature through adventure, science education, team-building and personal discovery. Yellowstone-Bighorn Research Association is dedicated to experiencing, learning and leaving a legacy in earth science education. Friends of the Westfork Winter Recreation focuses on plowing the West Fork Road beyond the Ski Run Road intersection to keep it open and safe for winter recreation. Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary provides life-long sanctuary to non-releasable native Montana wildlife while sharing the message of conservation and education.

Sally Martin Match Fund. Remember, if you cannot decide where to donate your money, please consider a donation to the match fund which benefits all 56 charities.
