Chairperson, R.L.A.C.F.

Sarah Ewald      Sarah Ewald originally hails from Minnesota and has lived in Red Lodge since 1998. She had planned on living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area her entire life until she married a “migrant computer worker”, her husband Bo. They have since lived in several places in the Midwest and Western parts of the US, but Sarah refused to move anymore once she got to know Red Lodge. If there were only a Dairy Queen in Red Lodge, she wouldn’t even have to go to Billings.

In addition to seasonal computer work, Sarah and Bo own and operate a ranch a few miles north of Red Lodge. Sarah has been very active in several community activities including the Co-Chair of the Red Lodge Fun Run for Charities. She also went through recruit training for the Red Lodge Volunteer Fire Department in 2002; has become the Secretary of the Firefighter’s Association, and was selected as the “Firefighter of the Year” in 2005. Prior to moving to Red Lodge, Sarah had served on the Board of the Ann Bancroft Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the Arctic explorer of the same name, to help girls and women aspire to and achieve their dreams.

Sarah loves outdoor activities, is an avid skier, hiker, and has run in several marathons. You may see her on occasion walking her big dogs around town in the (not too) early morning. Sarah graduated from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota. In addition to majoring in psychology and criminal justice, she also played varsity women’s basketball at St. Thomas.

In 1998 The Committee for Community Excellence named her “Community Champion”, and in 2004 she was honored as the Red Lodge Area Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year.

Passionate about running, Hope coaches cross-country and track and organizes races and meets for all ages and abilities including the Red Lodge Fun Run for Charities, the Beartooth Run, the Beartooth Invitational and the Hershey Meet. Hope and her husband, Steve, have lived and grown hay on an 80-acre ranch west of Red Lodge since 1986. They have two remarkably accomplished daughters of whom she is inordinately proud.

Vivian Beam
Board Member, R.L.A.C.F.

Vivian Beam grew up in the small town of Hysham after moving from South Dakota. Growing up in a small town community, Vivian understands the needs and concerns relevant to small town community life, and through her experiences, developed an appreciation for the simple aspects of life.

Vivian attended college at The University of Montana for 3 years, before taking a 4 year break to evaluate her career choices. Four years later she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in behavioral sciences from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Putting her "people" skills to work, she chose to enter the hospitality business, gaining experience in country club management in Missouri and Kansas, eventually moving to Oklahoma, where she met her husband, Craig, in Oklahoma City. After a further 5 years spent in Denver, Colorado, Vivian and Craig discovered Red Lodge.

Vivian and Craig have lived in Red Lodge for 11 years and own and operate Garden Party, a full-service flower container business. Vivian also works for Bridge Creek Restaurant during the winter months. Through her work and experience over the years, Vivian has developed a unique perspective which is invaluable to any community effort and looks forward to many more opportunities for enhancing the quality of life in Red Lodge, Montana.
