Funds raised this year will be used to promote community composting, to provide scholarships to members to attend educational conferences and to promote renewable energy in our community.

We have recently organized a community compost committee to explore the options for composting in our community. We are working to promote the use of locally sourced foods in local restaurants. Our members have been active in the revision of the Custer Gallatin National Forest plan as well participating in events to promote soil health for more sustainable agriculture. We were instrumental in getting county wide regulations for responsible resource development through the planning board. Our members lobbied at the last legislative session for clean energy issues and against bills which could have adversely effect agricultural water rights.

Our goal for this year is to raise $2000 to continue our work.

Carbon County Resource Council mission statement:

  • Gather and disseminate accurate information to educate the public through our newsletter, phone trees, letters, our website and public forums.¬†Mobilize citizens to take action on issues of concern and actively participate in the public process.
