To be eligible to participate in The Red Lodge Fun Run for Charities:

| | Organizations must be based in the Red Lodge Community and surrounding Carbon County areas and funds raised in The Red Lodge Fun Run will be used to serve these areas.
|
Further, the organization must be one of the following: |
| | 501(c)(3) Public Nonprofit Organizations: |
| | Program of a Registered 501(c)(3). Written approval from a sponsoring organization must be included. |
| | Service Club. All funds raised (both donations and match) must be used for charitable purposes such as public outreach in the form of emergency assistance, youth outreach, scholarships, public health programs,and cultural programs.

The Organization is not eligible if: |
| | Made up of an individual. |
| | Organizations operated primarily by and for religious organizations. |
| | Political organizations that take public political positions. |
| | Solely support for medical research. |
| | Conduit organizations, i.e., an organization or event that passes funds to other organizations. |
| | Organizations in areas that have an established granting community foundation. |
Organizational participation in The Red Lodge Fun Run is contingent upon the following requirements: |
| | Submission of a completed Organization Application that is subsequently approved by the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation with a financial statement showing use of funds, if in previous year. |
| | The organization's designated contact person must have an active e-mail account. E-mail is the only way The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation can guarantee contact with organizations. (Internet Access is available at the Red Lodge Carnegie Library) |
| | Compliance with the rules and procedures. |
| | Each participating nonprofit organization must provide one or more volunteer to work a minimum of 5 hours on the race organization. |
| | At least one member of the participating nonprofit run/walks in the race. |
Completed applications must include the following: |
| | Completed and signed Organization Application. |
| | Completed and signed Mission Statement and Use of Funds Statement. |
| | Use of Funds Financial Statement, if having participated in previous Fun Run. |

RULES |
Rules are intended to make The Red Lodge Fun Run accessible and fair for all nonprofit organizations. Failure to follow any of the rules will result in an organization's disqualification from The Red Lodge Fun Run. |
| 1. | All organizations are to operate within the spirit of The Red Lodge Fun Run and to function ethically and honestly in relation to the event and in a spirit of having fun. |
| 2. | Organizations may not send a boxholder or postal patron mailing. The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation will send two boxholder/postal patron mailings prior to the event providing residents with entry forms, donor forms and a listing of eligible organizations (those registered by the February 28, 2007 deadline). Organizations are allowed to conduct targeted mailings (addressed to specific members on an organization's mailing list) related to The Red Lodge Fun Run. |
| 3. | No event entry fees, organizational fees or other non tax-deductible charges may be channeled through The Red Lodge Fun Run. |
| 4. | In compliance with The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation grant guidelines, funds may not be used for religious activities, personal nonprofit organizations, debt retirement, political organizations or campaigns, events or benefits that are fundraisers, telephone solicitations, or lobbying. (See Eligiblity.) |

| Due to the complexity and size of The Red Lodge Fun Run, The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation has created both rules and procedures governing participation in the event. |
| Rules are intended to make The Red Lodge Fun Run accessible and fair for all nonprofit organizations. Failure to follow any of the rules will result in an organization's disqualification from The Red Lodge Fun Run and may affect future participation in the event. |

GENERAL |
| | All contributions received as part of The Red Lodge Fun Run are subject to The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation's variance power. * |
| | Organizations must not provide a tax receipt for contributions made to The Red Lodge Fun Run. As donations are made to The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation, it is The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation's legal responsibility to provide tax receipts to donors. Organizations, however, are encouraged and expected to acknowledge contributions made on behalf of their organization. |
| | Organizations must not provide any goods or services in exchange for a donor's contribution to The Red Lodge Fun Run. |
| | Organizations must not collect contributions to be pooled and delivered or mailed to The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation. Donors should mail or deliver their contributions directly to The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation at P.O. Box 1871, Red Lodge, MT 59068. |
| | The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation will mail one entry and donor form to every boxholder in Red Lodge and surrounding areas. Official entry and donor forms will also be available at local stores and in many participating organizations in Billings. |
| | The vending or sale of products, goods or services at The Red Lodge Fun Run for Charities is prohibited. |
| | To establish a connection with the event, it is necessary that The Red Lodge Fun Run logo appear in advertisements that nonprofit organizations place in behalf of the Fun Run. |
| | The match percentage will be announced and final award checks given at the Awards Party in October. |
| | Nonprofits are required to have a display on race day to show their use of funds from the previous year and/or intentions for the current year funds. |
| *Variance power: The Board of Directors shall have the power to modify or eliminate any restriction, condition, limitation or trust imposed with respect to any funds or property the title to which has become vested in this corporation if, in the sole judgment of the Board of Directors, such restriction, condition, limitation or trust becomes unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community or area served. |

CONTRIBUTIONS |
| Nonprofit organizations are responsible for soliciting donations on their behalf. The unique aspect of The Red Lodge Fun Run is that donors can make contributions on behalf of several organizations with only one check and thus receive a single tax receipt. Further, contributions made to The Red Lodge Fun Run qualify for a match percentage, thus making a greater impact.
Qualifying contributions for the Red Lodge Fun Run will be accepted July 1, 2008 through September 15, 2008. Online contributions are accepted February 1st through September 15, 2008.
Contributions received before or after those dates will be passed through to the designated organization but will not qualify for matching funds. |
| Eligible contributions include: |
| | Checks Must be made out to The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation and accompanied by a donor form. Cash gifts are discouraged without special arrangements./font> |
| | Gifts of Stock Donors wishing to give stock gifts must contact The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation directly by calling Mark Schubert, CPA at 406-446-3473. |
| | Corporate Matching Gift Programs |
| Ineligible contributions include: |
| | Event Proceeds Funds raised through raffles, drawings, auctions, dinners or other events. |
| | Fees Participation, team, gallery, event or any other type of non tax-deductible fee. |
| | Membership Dues. |
| | Pledge Payments Gifts given to The Red Lodge Fun Run on behalf of an organization cannot be made in fulfillment of a pledge agreement with an organization. Contributions are mailed to: Red Lodge Area Community Foundation P.O. Box 1871 Red Lodge, MT 59068 |

CHALLENGE GRANT STRUCTURE |
| | The Red Lodge Fun Run challenge grant structure was developed to allow all organizations to benefit fairly. |
| The Cap: |
| | All eligible organizations receive a percentage match on contributions. |
| | Qualified nonprofit organizations and affiliated programs receive 100% of all unmatched donor contributions, subject to The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation's variance power.* |
| The Match Percentage: |
| | The match percentage, which will be announced at the Awards Party in October 2007, depends on the ratio of the total amount raised in match money (from Match Fund Donors and Corporate Sponsors) compared to the amount of eligible donor ontributions. |
