THE RED LODGE AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION (RLACF)

The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation is a permanent, community-based resource for those who give and those who receive. Making philanthropy easy for the donor, the RLACF offers accountability for charitable gives, provides in depth information on nonprofit organizations of interest and helps to identify local areas of need. For nonprofit organizations the Foundation works to provide management expertise, funding opportunities, educational programs and a connection to donors. The primary area that the RLACF serves is Red Lodge and surrounding areas in Carbon County.

What the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation does:

The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation (RLACF) exists to promote the growth of organized philanthropy that enriches the quality of life in Red Lodge and surrounding areas in Carbon County by:

• Serving as a leader, catalyst and resource for philanthropy
• Providing flexible and cost-effective ways for donors to benefit nonprofit organizations
• Making strategic grants in art, education, environment, health and social services
• Building endowments to help meet future community needs

The Red Lodge area Community Foundation strives to make giving easy by providing vehicles to facilitate and enhance personal, corporate and foundation philanthropy

Endowments offer an opportunity for gifts to be managed in perpetuity for the long-term support of Red Lodge area needs

The Red Lodge Area Community Foundation offers professional management of funds, knowledge of the nonprofit community and expertise about the many philanthropic opportunities available to donors

The RLACF works to offer education, networking and collaborative opportunities to Nonprofit Organizations to achieve their missions and financial goals

The Red Lodge Fun Run is a project of the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation. A matching gift event is being mounted to supplement the money annually needed for area nonprofit organizations, affording everyone who wishes to be a donor/participator, maximum ease of giving regardless of gift size, plus enjoying a day of fun!

RED LODGE AREA COMUNITY FOUNDATION (RLACF) HISTORY

In 1992 local residents recognized that increasing growth in Red Lodge and surrounding areas could change the qualities that make the Community a unique and desirable place to live. These concerned people formed the Beartooth Front Community Forum to give thoughtful consideration to economic development, art and culture, natural resource protection, and other issues of concern. The history and accomplishments of the Forum presage the future of the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation.

In 2000 the Forum decided to create an endowment fund, originally called Beartooth Front Community Foundation, now renamed the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation; to provide a permanent and growing source of funds for support of the community needs and initiatives. The Foundation was originally organized as part of the Montana Community Foundation to take advantage of MCF’s established procedures and investment management as well as their matching money grants. All gifts were placed in permanent endowment with distributions to be returned to RLACF to meet Community needs through specific grants.

In 2003 the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation filed with the State of Montana for 501 (C) 3 status to create it’s own entity separate from the Beartooth Community Forum, allowing it to better serve the Community of Red Lodge and the surrounding areas.

The RLACF is currently mounting a Community Fund Raising event, The Red Lodge Fun Run3 for Charities, to pull the Community and the Nonprofit organizations together to create grant monies to support their growing initiatives and needs.
