Next Deadline: January 31, 2010, for Opportunity Grants!

In the summer of 2008, Willie Nelson came to Red Lodge and performed a concert benefiting the Carbon County Parents, Let’s Unite for Kids (PLUK) Community Council. The concert was successful far beyond PLUK’s expectations, bringing in over $140,000 for the purpose of enriching, enhancing or improving the lives of Carbon County children with special needs (i.e. mentally, emotionally, physically and/or socially).

As a result of this overwhelming success, in 2009 Carbon County’s PLUK Community Council began a three-year granting program using the proceeds from this concert. Grants are awarded twice yearly, in February and again in July.

Opportunity Grants are due January 31st of each year and are intended for one-time projects or programs. PLUK and the Red Lodge Area Community Foundation (RLACF), the fiscal agent responsible for reviewing, awarding and administering these grants, expect to award up to 5 Opportunity Grants for $2000 each year. Download guidelines and application form here.

Sustainability Grants are due June 30th of each year and are intended for programs that in some way enhance the sustainability of the applicant organization. PLUK and RLACF expect to award up to $30,000 each year in this cycle. The $30,000 can go to a single organization or may be divided among more than one organization, depending on the applications.

Applications must be postmarked on or before the above deadlines and mailed to Red Lodge Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1871, Red Lodge, Montana 59068. Applications may also be emailed (in PDF format ONLY) to grants@rlacf.org.
Faxed applications are not accepted.

Contact the Foundation to receive a mailed or faxed copy at grants@rlacf.org or 406.425.0492.
